one family at a time: near westside

Updated: Oct 15, 2018

Hearts & Hands of Indiana helps people find affordable homes – and increases homeownership on the near westside of Indianapolis.

Hearts & Hands acquires abandoned properties for rehabilitation. Volunteers and local labor make the homes habitable, then owners like Catrina Rush and her two boys – selected through a screening process – receive education and counseling on home buying and maintenance.

By partnering with Renew Indianapolis, Hearts & Hands keeps acquisition prices low, allowing families and individuals to purchase the newly rehabbed dwellings at below-market prices.
