We send your name to the City of Indianapolis’ Department of Metropolitan Development.
DMD verifies that potential buyers are:
(a) current on property taxes, and
(b) don’t have outstanding code violations.
If either, you’ll receive an email.
We make an initial recommendation about the proposed transaction to a monthly Renew Indianapolis Review Committee.
Positive committee recommendations move on to the Renew Indianapolis Board of Directors.
The Renew Indianapolis Board of Directors votes on a final recommendation.
Monthly, we present the full list of applicants as well as our recommendations to the DMD.
(a) If your request is not recommended for approval, you will receive notification noting reasons for denial via email.
(b) If DMD concurs with the Renew Indianapolis recommendation for approval, the request moves on to the next upcoming Metropolitan Development Commission meeting.
For recommended properties, DMD staff will email relevant neighborhood association(s) to ensure they have the chance to express their support or non-support to the MDC.
Once MDC approves, DMD or other city staff prepare applicable documents and send them to Renew Indianapolis, the buyer’s contact, and a title company for preparation of closing statements.
Title company schedules closing date and records documents when transaction is complete.
